project 365
i'm sure you have heard of this and probably many of you have actually done it. i'm happy to say that it's my first time. i think the first time i heard about this was on ali edward's blog and i thought it would be fun to try sometime. i was reminded about it just days before the new year and thought what a perfect time to start! although, seriously, you can start this anytime of the year. you don't have to start january first, it's just 365 days of consecutive photos. one photo per day.
i'm not quite sure how i will go about posting them yet. right now i think i might post a week's worth of pics on fridays. we'll see how it goes. i'm hoping that by saying that i will be held accountable:)
my reasons for doing this vary. of course i want to learn more about my camera, learn to take better pictures and be more creative but i also want to capture our normal-every-day living. not always taking pics of the set up, staged photos (there will be some of those though, believe me) or just the special events but the messes that are everywhere, boys in their underwear, what games they are playing or what they're reading, or the way porter looks sucking his thumb in a daze while watching tv. part of my goal is to become more aware of the everyday beauty that we are surrounded by and that will mean different things for different people and that's what makes this so great. i want my eyes to be open everyday, i want to really pay attention to the details, i want to see the beautiful shadows that are cast upon my walls at different times of the day, the way the light falls on my bed in the afternoon and of course my family...my loves...and ultimately, my life.
after the first week of doing this i am realizing that this will definitely be challenging but hey, i'm up for a challenge! i just can't guarantee that there will be great pictures or that you won't get bored looking at them-ha!
week one of project 365
january onea friendly game of uno and then go fish. happy new year!
january two a very common site on weekend nights.
january threea not-so-common site, coop falling asleep in the afternoon after church. staying up late is catchin' up!
january fourum, they were supposed to be getting their jammies on!
january five doing a little science test. can you guess which is an acid, a base, or a neutral?
january six put on my boots and took a walk around the yard...and froze!
january sevenanother snow day...legos...and more legos...
i'm finding the indoor night time low-light pics that i want to take without a flash to be pretty tricky. hmmm. a lot to learn yes in deed!
you should check the shutter sisters amazing blog out. if you join their shutter sisters 365 flickr group who knows, your photo could make it on their site for that day! pretty cool. again through ali's blog i found this great article that gives a little more insight as to the why and how of this fun idea, check it out.
so there you have it--week one down! hopefully instead of boring you maybe...just maybe you were inspired to go take some pictures!
have a great day.
Darling Daughter,
I'll leave the great picture taking to you:) You're the best! Love, Mom
